Wesley Hall Wins GreenerFuture Leicestershire Impact Award

We’re so grateful to GreenerFuture Leicestershire for inviting us to yesterday’s event and for recognising our sustainability efforts with the Impact Award! We’re proud to have achieved a 74% score in our recent sustainability audit.

Some of the actions recognised included:

  • Creating a community garden and hosting sessions to grow plants, fruit and veg, donating our homegrown produce to the food pantry

  • Installing secondary glazing to reduce heat loss

  • Collecting rainwater and reusing wastewater to keep our plants thriving

  • Delivering cycle training and encouraging active travel to Wesley Hall

  • Hosting preloved clothing sales and a repair café to give clothes a second life

  • Encouraging our local community to bring and use their own cups and mugs for coffee

The audit was an eye-opening process. Alice from GreenerFuture shared so many practical, achievable ideas to help us go further, from simple signage reminding people to turn off taps to improved recycling posters and waste-reduction initiatives. Next, we’re excited to begin the Carbon Leadership and Action Programme, where we’ll develop a tailored Sustainability Action Plan to take our carbon reduction work to the next level.

A huge thank you again to GreenerFuture Leicestershire for their support, and congratulations to all the amazing organisations and businesses making a real difference. Special thanks to Amy McAvoy for encouraging us to take this step and helping guide Wesley Hall toward a greener, more sustainable future. Here’s to a greener future for us all!
