Preparing Young People for the Future with Essential Skills

At Wesley Hall’s Youth Club, we want to do more than just offer a place to hang out - we want to equip young people with real-life skills to help them thrive. That’s why we were excited to recently host two valuable sessions for our young members:

When PC Marcus from East Leicestershire Police visited, our youth had a real opportunity to ask honest questions, learn about their rights and discuss important topics like safety, decision-making and responsibility. These conversations help bridge the gap between young people and the police, making sure they feel supported rather than intimidated.

We also held a Money Management & Money Matters workshop, led by Aadam (Community Leader), where our youth learned practical skills to help them make smarter financial choices. Schools don’t always teach young people how to budget, save and avoid financial pitfalls, so this session gave them the tools to feel more confident with money.

One of the biggest takeaways from the session was the importance of developing good financial habits early. Whether it’s understanding savings, making informed spending choices or planning for the future, these are lessons that will serve them for years to come.

A huge thank you to Mezmin for arranging these incredible learning experiences. Seeing young people engaged, asking thoughtful questions and walking away with knowledge they can actually use is what makes these sessions so valuable.

At Wesley Hall, we’re committed to helping young people grow, not just by providing activities but by giving them the skills, confidence and guidance they need to build a bright future.
